Cats the Musical
I watched Cats the Musical over at Esplanade Theater on April 10. Thanks to TRCC. Cats is based on poetry of T.S. Eliot.
It might have been a great musical during the 1980s era but I think the "wow-factor" is wearing off over the years.

Act 1 was a draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag. It starts with the cats explaining what the Jellicle tribe is all about. Next we are introduced to interesting characters like the Rum Tum Tugger(Hes like Elvis, all the girls melt at his sight. Even the audience lol.) Grizabella (The once glamour cat but now an outcast. Also sings the Memories song) I liked the part where all the Cats would be singing and suddenly a giant shoe would land in front of them. Hilarious.

Anyway, I only woke up during the intermission. The Cats were interacting with the audience! They were rubbing their faces and paws with the audience. Climbing over seats, minding their own business. We played along, some squealed at the thought of the cat nearing them.

That interaction woke everyone up and we were back on 'high' for Act 2. It was better than the first. More cats are introduced. Asparagus known as Gus (Is a cat that performs in theater productions) etc...

Then the time comes for the cats to choose and they chose Grizabella to go to the "other side" after she sings "Memories" emotionally. (I am not to sure about the "other side" because its a musical and they were singing from start to finish without any lines. A little hard to understand them. So I totally recommend purchasing the programme.)Beautiful Costume, Lighting, Set and Music.

If I was given a choice between Cats or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I would have chosen the latter.
